About the trip
Our Halibut Only Charter focuses entirely on chasing Pacific Halibut the flat that made Homer famous.
Trips run May 15 through September 30, with prime fishing between mid-June and late August.

Departure Location: Homer Harbor on the Homer Spit
You’ll meet your captain and crew at Homer Harbor in the morning. After a quick safety talk and orientation, we’ll head out toward Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet usually less than an hour’s run to reach productive halibut grounds.
Once on the spot, we’ll drop baited circle hooks and wait for that unmistakable tap-tap-thump of a halibut bite. When it’s time to reel in, you’ll feel the full power of Alaska’s most famous bottom fish.
Our crew provides everything you need bait, gear, and tackle along with guidance on proper technique. Whether it’s your first halibut trip or your tenth, we’ll make sure you get the most out of your time on the water.

Best time for halibut fishing
While halibut can be caught throughout the summer, the peak season runs from June through August, when weather and tides align for the best action. Early and late season (May and September) often produce fewer boats on the water and lighter crowds at the harbor great options for those looking for a quieter experience.
